Certificate in Hospitality Management program is specifically designed for young adults wishing to enter the tourism and hospitality industry field and who aspire these related careers.
The programme is designed to provide learners with an introduction to Food Production, Food and Beverage Service, Housekeeping, Front Office and Tour Guiding, providing the skills and competencies necessary for entry level employment in the hospitality industry. The programme will also provide learners with communication and professional development skills enabling them to work effectively as part of a team, and also to make informed decisions re; career planning and development.
At the end of the programme successful graduates will:
- Demonstrate professionalism and customer focus within the tourism and hospitality industry
- Demonstrate and apply product knowledge to a range of functions of a hospitality operation, including food and beverages services, bar service and customer service.
- Be capable of responding in a professional manner to the needs and expectations of customers, using appropriate social / relationship skills
- Demonstrate with competence skills in the following areas: Food and Beverage, Bar Service, Communication and Personal *Development, Preparation for Work Experience and Career Planning
- Understand and apply appropriate legislation, including legislation in relation to: equality, employment, environmental best practice, food safety legislation, health and safety, and licensing laws.
- Operate effectively within a culturally-diverse environment. Communicate effectively as a professional within the Tourism and Hospitality Industry
- Recognise the socio-economic impacts of the tourism and hospitality industry nationally and internationally
The entry requirements for the Technician Certificate Programme are:
- Standard VII and Form IV or above
